Building ProWire’s live audio app for sports fans
ProWire streams live audio from players, referees and commentators straight to fans’ phones at the game. Starting from an executive briefing and a set of mockups, we defined the technical strategy, designed the experience and built and deployed the app.

Background
Sports leagues across the US and Canada keep looking for new ways to make live games more engaging. ProWire’s low-latency audio technology streams real-time audio from players, referees and commentators to fans’ phones. Fans download the app, join the venue’s Wi-Fi and choose a feed, from broadcast commentary to live player mics.
Since its debut in 2016, ProWire has worked with major sports franchises and leagues, and it was selected for the Future of Sport Lab, an innovation program launched by Toronto Metropolitan University and Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment.
What we built
The ProWire app runs on CrowdFlex, ProWire’s patent-pending technology that captures and processes live audio at the event and streams it to fans’ phones with very little delay. Its back end lets ProWire’s administrators tailor the app for each event, and fans’ use of the app lets ProWire serve paid ads and branded content.
How we worked
We started with an executive briefing, a slide deck and mockups of the interface. From there we defined the technical strategy, designed the user experience, then deployed and refined the app, tackling the biggest technical risks first. We trained ProWire’s technical team through day-to-day remote collaboration, and ProWire has called on us for strategy, oversight and turnkey development since the first version.
We are fortunate to have started working with Electric Mind from the very beginning. The technical foundation and flexibility of the ProWire app is in large part due to their foresight and technical expertise. We have been able to get to market quickly and continue to innovate with our sports partners to pursue new activation and content strategies.
Building such an innovative app was an exciting opportunity for us. We focused on spiking the technical risks early to ensure the app was built on the right foundation.
