An AI-enabled operating model for a large North American bank’s delivery teams

A large bank had invested in AI tools, but its delivery teams worked the same way they always had. Over 15 weeks we trained and embedded with more than six delivery pods, put AI to work across the software lifecycle with human control gates, and left a roadmap to scale it.

The challenge

  • AI was treated as a tooling purchase, not a change in how the workforce works.
  • Delivery processes were complex, siloed and different in every business unit.
  • Institutional knowledge was undocumented, which limited what AI could do with it.
  • There was no way to measure AI adoption, workforce enablement or delivery improvement.
  • Governance and accountability models weren’t built for an AI-enabled way of working.

What we did

  • Ran a one-week immersive bootcamp for each pod, covering AI across the software lifecycle and co-planning real work.
  • Embedded Electric Mind engineers in active delivery pods to put the new practices to work on live projects.
  • Defined how AI accelerates each phase (define, design, build and test) with human control gates between them.
  • Delivered a future-state operating model and a prioritized roadmap across people, process and technology.
  • Wrote an enterprise training strategy and workforce enablement plan so the bank can keep scaling the change itself.

Results

The pods now use AI from define to deploy, with people approving the work at each gate. The bank came away with a stronger AI-enabled workforce and faster delivery teams, plus an operating model, roadmap and training plan that let it extend the approach to more teams without depending on more headcount.
